UROP Student

People with type 2 diabetes are more likely to be diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease later in life. Our group is investigating this relationship in both mouse models and using electronic medical record data to understand how interventions to treat diabetes could reduce the risk of Alzheimer's Disease.

Qualifications
You should be comfortable being trained to work with animals, and willing to learn how to manage and analyze data. The ideal candidate will have blocks of time (3h or more) on Mondays, Wednesdays and/or Fridays. You should be comfortable working in teams and with able to work scientists from multiple fields
Responsibilities
You will learn how to handle mice and test both their glycemic responses and their age-related memory decline. You may also be trained in evaluating human medical record data to understand how diabetes, obesity, and genetics affect Alzheimer's Disease risk.
